About Stephen Quay Accountancy
Our accountancy practice was set up in 1986 to help individuals and small businesses deal with their taxation and accountancy matters. You may be an individual (perhaps employed or retired), a sole trader, a partnership or a small company. Whatever your status, we will help you comply with your statutory duties. Tax legislation is complex and forever changing.
Our office is situated in the County of Dorset in the South of England. We are in the beautiful Tarrant Valley approximately 5 miles north east of the Georgian town of Blandford Forum. Like many general accountancy practices our client base is mainly local. However, over the years as clients move away, we are delighted that many have stayed with us. We now have clients in other parts of the UK and abroad.
Whilst we very much enjoy seeing our clients, these days there would appear to be no geographical limit for an accountancy practice and many of our busy clients are happy to deal with us by correspondence, telephone, fax and e-mail.
Stephen is a Certified Practising Accountant member of The ICPA, regulated by them and following their code of ethics. He is also a member of the International Association of Book-keepers (IAB) for which a Certificate of Compliance is held qualifying him to engage in public practice as a book-keeper. Compliance requires undertaking continual professional development which means keeping up to date with changes in accounting standards and tax legislation.
Stephen has been a subscriber to the Department of Work & Pensions Publicity Register for over 20 years which is maintained for advisors, intermediaries and professionals. By keeping up to date in the world of state benefits and pensions, tax credits, employment and back to work schemes he is well placed to help clients where state support may be needed.
All accountants, tax advisors and book-keepers, as well as those in other financial professions (banking and solicitors for example), must be registered under the Money Laundering Regulations to trade legally. Stephen is registered and monitored for this with the IAB.
We are also a user of computer data registered with the Information Commissioner under the Data Protection Act. Your personal data is held securely in paper and digital form and is not available to any third party for any purpose whatsoever, except of course, HMRC and other Government agencies for the purpose of complying with your statutory duties.
